The second running of the Historic Rally Festival, a multi venue Motorsport UK demonstration event is set to get underway across two days starting on the Saturday 15th October.
This year sees the event includes new stages as Ironbridge Power Station welcoming rally cars on the Saturday as cars tackle the venue which is being regenerated to create a new community in the heart of Shropshire.
The Ceremonial Start and Live Scrutineering will be taking place in the QEII Arena and the cars leaving via the Town Park as they head out into Shropshire and to Ironbridge.
Tickets for the Ironbridge stage are by advanced sales only and available from Weston Park who will be holding the dusk stages on the Saturday night. The cars will return from Ironbridge to the Service Park in Telford to fit lights before heading out to the historic parkland.
There will be live music too with Fleetwood Mad performing on the Saturday night. Their first set will welcome you into the park as the tension rises for the first car onto the rally stage between 18:00 and 18:30. They will then close the days activities with another set followed by a firework finale.
Sunday will be a full day of action at Weston Park with one of the longest rally stages ever held in the parkland. Tower Loop will see the cars head round and up to one of the highest spots of the park before descending down into the heart of the park and the Water Splash.
New for this year will be crossing points to access the inner areas of the rally stages and to increase viewing opportunities for all spectators.
This year will see a pause for lunch on the Sunday with all the rally cars congregating in a special “Meet and Greet” area in Weston Park open to spectators to come over and get a good look at the cars, meet the drivers and get fully immersed into the event and experience rally fever!
As well as the Meet and Greet and crossing points to access new areas of the rally stages, there will be a food and craft village, local artisan food as well as street food, local ales and ciders, a fun fair and a club area. There will be plenty to see and do.
Warner Lewis, Rallying History Event Organiser commented:
“This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than last year. We have been lucky enough to have made some welcome changes to the event bringing the spectators closer to the action and create new viewing areas within the stages of Weston Park.”
“There will be plenty of action in Telford, with the QEII Arena, Town Park and the Service Park all open and free to spectators.”
“Ironbridge is an exciting new opportunity for us and we look forward to tackling the stages around the old power station.”
Spectator tickets can be purchased from Weston Park for all the stages at both venues.
